women's last stand

I know this is late, but...I was really upset by the Super Bowl commercials this year. The only ones attempting humor were directed at how annoying women can be, and how men need to stand up for themselves and watch the football game with their buddies (a pastime that women around the world are not allowing to occur)

Exhibit A:

"Change out of that skirt, Jason"

I mean, really it's doubly annoying to me, because I am a girl, and *gasp* I watch football on Saturdays and Sundays. Way to pretend that all women are vapid, lavender-candle-seeking pinheads and that to all men, showing affection to their S.O. is a chore.

But the one that really upset me was this - "I will be civil to your mother. I will put the seat down....I will watch your vampire tv shows with you." blah blah blah

But luckily, some awesome women made this spoof . Way to go, ladies!

Clueless & Celebrate Every Body Week

I've had this song stuck in my head for a while now:

and in honor of Celebrate Every Body Week, I wrote my version, aspiring to be something more than skinny and pretty.

Note: It wasn't in the movie, but the full version even says "I didn't eat today..." wow.

Getting drunk = consent

So I was just checking out the new college version of Huffington Post and found this article from Princeton that really enraged me. It's a girl, saying that when you get drunk, you know that you're opening yourself up to be raped, and why is it always a guy's fault anyway?

I'm overly angry at this ridiculousness, so I don't even want to read anymore about it, but I thought I would spark the conversation here to see what you all thought about it.

hopefully I can find something fem-positive soon to assauge my anger over this article.....
