Feminism Is For Everyone

This is why I'm a feminist.

There was a recent story on feministing about an "Anti-Feminist Bake Sale" at a college in PA (or something like that). On the article it linked to, there has been some heated "discussion" from both sides regarding feminism and its merits. I just looked at the comments a second ago and here is what one said:

Hello dingbats, you all already have the right to choose, you live in America, you make choices to goto school, marry or not marry, have children or not, work or let your husband do what he is supposed to do in taking care of you. Your cause does not even exist, except in Butch lovers marital and adopting agendas. To the ass-a-nine butch doll who commented by saying, "why can't the man raise the dumb kids", I hope that God(HE) does not allow you to bear children, for one because they would be in a world of hurt having a mom like you, and most likely "dumb" due to being your offspring. Get a life people, anyone who flooded the newspaper with backlash to Monday's bake sale. Good day Butch!

This is why I'm a feminist--people think that they can silence women by calling us lesbians, by calling us stupid, and by suggesting that we would fail at (our "natural" task of) being mothers. I'm a feminist because women are and have been treated as less-than-human for too damn long and people like this show us that the fight for equality is FAR from over.

Why are you a feminist?
