woops... a day late
Women in the United States are still paid only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. And for women of color, the numbers are even worse. African-American women earn 63 cents and Latinas earn 52 cents for every dollar paid to white men. Urge your Senators to support the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act! The Senate is currently considering legislation that would ensure that women and other workers who experience compensation discrimination are able to obtain justice. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (H.R. 2831) will reverse the effects of the recent Supreme Court decision Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber, which severely limits workers’ ability to vindicate their rights and distorts Congress’ intent to eliminate sex and other forms of discrimination in the workplace. *all this is taken from the National Women's Law Center |
