Business of Being Born Tonight, Friday April 10th
Hi everyone! I see that there has been interest in learning about being a doula on Grounds. What better way than to come out tonight and see the Business of Being Born with a bunch of doulas and other birth activists! If you can't come out tonight, please consider coming to any of the other free events Birth Matters Charlottesville is hosting this month. Here are the details: Time: 7-8:30 Location: The New Body Mind Spirit Yoga Studio (located in the Preston Plaza with IY Grocery Store and Mona Lisa Pasta) Free! And bring a friend! Friday, April 10th: The Business of Being Born Should most births should be viewed as a natural life process, or should every delivery be treated as a potentially catastrophic medical emergency? A film produced by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein. Monday, April 13th: "Comfort in Labor" Come learn various methods to help you cope during labor. We'll watch videos, try out different methods, meet local doulas (labor assistants), and find out what they carry in their bags of tricks. Friday, April 17th: "After the Baby Comes" A panel of local professionals will cover topics such as infant massage and postpartum care and depression. Come meet them and find out how they can help you. Friday, April 24th: Birth Day and Orgasmic Birth films. Birth can be beautiful and blissful for women open to the possibility, come see some inspiring births. Monday, April 27th: What Babies Want film. Infants are awake, aware, and need to feel loved. We’ll also have local professionals speak on Attachment Parenting and Babywearing and have an array of slings to try. |
